N. Korea threatens a preemptive nuclear strike on US soil Thursday, Mar 7 2013

N. Korea threatened a nuclear strike on US soil before a United Nations security vote on tightening sanctions against them. N. Korea reportedly said that Washington D.C. would be ‘engulfed in a sea of fire.’

The United Nations security council approved the tougher sanctions against N. Korea.

The FDR administration imposed a trade embargo against Japan before the start of World War II. The trade embargo is what provoked Japan into the attack at Pearl Harbor.

The UN sanctions is similar to a trade embargo.

Bible prophecy concerning locusts that sting like scorpions.

Revelation 9:1 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit.

Revelation 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.

Revelation 9:3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

Revelation 9:4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

Revelation 9:5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

Japan and China preparing for war against each other Wednesday, Feb 27 2013

The prophet Joel tells us that at the end of the age the nations will go to war.

Joel 3:9 Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up.

Joel 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’ “

Joel 3:11 Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather together all around. Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O LORD.

Joel 3:12 “Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.

Joel 3:13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow — For their wickedness is great.”

The US has got agreements with Japan to defend them in case they are attacked. China says that they are going to take the Senkaku Islands.  Japan says ‘no, they are not going to take them.’

What we have got is an irresistible force against an immovable object. Eventually, something has got to give.

Iran to test fire Shahab 3 missile on December 31st Friday, Dec 30 2011

Iran will test fire one of its Shahab 3 missles during the ongoing Velayat 90 naval war games. The firing will be on December 31st.

The design for the Shahab 3 missile came from Russia, China, and North Korea. The specifics of this missile are not known. The design can vary.

Generally, the Shahab 3 missile is a multi-stage ballistic missile that can reach a height of 250 miles and that has a range of 1,200 miles.

There are different launch platforms for this rocket. It can be launched from a hardened missile silo. Or, it can be launched from a mobile truck platform.

It has a 620 pound cluster warhead that can separate into five different bombs. Each bomb can target different destinations.

A missile of this type can deliver a nuclear warhead. It is not known if Iran has nuclear warheads. Since Russia, China, and North Korea – all three of which have nuclear explosive devices – designed this rocket it is possible that Iran could have a Shahab 3 missile with one or more nuclear warheads.

Article from Irish Times:

Iran to fire long-range missiles

Iran will fire long-range missiles during a naval drill in the Gulf tomorrow, a semi-official news agency reported, a show of force at a time when Iran has threatened to close shipping lanes if the West imposes sanctions on its oil exports.

Iran has long-range missile systems including the Shahab-3, which could reach Israel and US bases in the Middle East.

In the past week it has threatened to stop ships moving through the strategic Straight of Hormuz if sanctions are imposed on its oil exports over its disputed nuclear programme, increasing tension in a long-running standoff with the West.

“The Iranian navy will test several kinds of its missiles, including its long-range missiles, in the Persian Gulf on Saturday,” Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, deputy commander of the Iranian navy, told Fars news agency.

The United States and Israel have said they do not rule out military action against Iran if diplomacy fails to resolve a dispute over the country’s nuclear programme, which Tehran says is peaceful but the West says is a cover to build bomb.

Iran says it would retaliate if attacked. It started a 10-day navy drill tomorrow.

“The fire of missiles is the final part of the navy drill,” said Mr Mousavi. “The final phase of the drill is to prepare the navy for confronting the enemy in war situations.” Read report on Irish Times.

US Navy has no defense against Russian supersonic anti-ship missile Thursday, Dec 29 2011

Russia, and now maybe Iran, has got an anti-ship missile called the “Sizzler” (SS-N-27 Sizzler called “Klub” missile by the Russians) for which the US Navy has no defense.

The Sizzler or Klub missile is a multi-stage missile that flies just above the water. It flies at a subsonic speed until it reaches the range of the enemy ship’s radar, which reportedly is about 30 to 40 miles. The part with the warhead then separates. It accelerates to a supersonic speed of Mach 2.9 and zig-zags toward the target.

It’s radar is turned off making it hard to spot. Three seconds before striking the target the Sizzler turns its radar back on to home in on the target.

Russian Supersonic Klub Anti-Ship Missile

According to a year 2007 article on Bloomberg dot com the US Navy had no defense against the Sizzler missile at that time: “Navy Lacks Plan to Defend Against `Sizzler’ Missile”

As of today’s date it appears that the US Navy still does not have a defense against the supersonic anti-ship missile.

The way to develop a defense against such a weapon is to develop a similar weapon and then find a way to defeat  the similar weapon. The US Navy is doing just that. It’s called the MSST (Multi-Stage Supersonic Target). However, the prototype will not be ready until the year 2014 according to the Janes dot com web site.

Excerpts from Janes dot com:

The MSST (Multi-Stage Supersonic Target is being developed to simulate the threat of next-generation surface to surface anti-ship cruise missiles – such as the Novator 34M-54E Klub, for example (SS-N-27, NATO reporting name ‘Sizzler’) – that cruise at subsonic speeds, initiate a separation, then make a supersonic dash to their intended target.

A final RFP (request for proposals) was issued in November 2007 and, competing with a bid from a Northrop Grumman/Orbital Sciences team, ATK was awarded a four-year, $97 million development contract by US Naval Air Systems Command (Navair) in early September 2008.

Two evaluation and seven development ZGQM-173A prototypes are to be built under this contract, with a first flight expected in the second quarter of 2011. Development completion is due by October 2012, after which a production decision will be taken with a view to service entry in 2014.

So the US government is provoking Iran and Russia. The US Navy has got fleets of ships in the Persian Gulf region where the enemy has got weapons for which there is no defense.

A scenario like the one described above is a sure way to get your navy sunk. You wonder what the US government could be thinking.

Iran photographs USS John Stennis in the Persian Gulf Thursday, Dec 29 2011

Things are getting more interesting by the day.

The Iranian military says that it has photographed a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf region. It was probably the USS John C. Stennis. A news report says that the supercarrier has been re-assigned to the Persian Gulf region.

Iran boasts of surveillance of U.S. aircraft carrier as tensions with Tehran continue to rise

Iran has ramped up its war of words with the U.S. – by revealing it filmed and photographed one of its aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf.

Tensions between the two countries are escalating on an almost daily basis over Iran’s ongoing 10-day navy drill near the strategic Strait of Hormuz – the passageway for one-sixth of the world’s oil supply.

Official IRNA news agency reported today that a surveillance plane obtained the footage in what has been seen as a clear indication that Iran wants to cast its navy as having a powerful role in the region’s waters. Read report on UK Daily Mail.

BREMERTON – USS John C. Stennis sailors didn’t get much time to celebrate the end of the Iraq War before refocusing on other hostilities in the region.

The Bremerton-based aircraft carrier launched the final sortie into Iraq on Dec. 18, then headed out of the Persian Gulf toward the Arabian Sea where it can better support troops fighting in Afghanistan.

To get there, it had to sail through the narrow Strait of Hormuz, which Iran’s navy chief blustered Wednesday his country could easily close and cut off transport of one-third of the world’s oil tanker traffic.

Iran’s Navy also is in the midst of a 10-day drill in international waters near the oil route, involving submarines, missile drills, torpedoes and drones, according to The Associated Press. Read rest of the report.

U.S. Navy counters Iran’s war games with threats of its own Wednesday, Dec 28 2011

The  United States Navy has issued a statement saying that it will not tolerate any interference with shipping through the Strait of Hormuz according to a Reuters report.

U.S. Fifth Fleet says won’t allow disruption in Hormuz

The U.S. Fifth Fleet said on Wednesday it will not allow any disruption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, after Iran threatened to stop ships moving through the strategic oil route.

“The free flow of goods and services through the Strait of Hormuz is vital to regional and global prosperity,” a spokesperson for the Bahrain-based fleet said in a written response to queries from Reuters about the possibility of Iran trying to close the waterway.

“Anyone who threatens to disrupt freedom of navigation in an international strait is clearly outside the community of nations; any disruption will not be tolerated.”

Asked whether it was taking specific measures in response to the threat to close the Strait, the fleet said it “maintains a robust presence in the region to deter or counter destabilizing activities,” without providing further detail. Read report on Reuters.
