US Navy has no defense against Russian supersonic anti-ship missile Thursday, Dec 29 2011

Russia, and now maybe Iran, has got an anti-ship missile called the “Sizzler” (SS-N-27 Sizzler called “Klub” missile by the Russians) for which the US Navy has no defense.

The Sizzler or Klub missile is a multi-stage missile that flies just above the water. It flies at a subsonic speed until it reaches the range of the enemy ship’s radar, which reportedly is about 30 to 40 miles. The part with the warhead then separates. It accelerates to a supersonic speed of Mach 2.9 and zig-zags toward the target.

It’s radar is turned off making it hard to spot. Three seconds before striking the target the Sizzler turns its radar back on to home in on the target.

Russian Supersonic Klub Anti-Ship Missile

According to a year 2007 article on Bloomberg dot com the US Navy had no defense against the Sizzler missile at that time: “Navy Lacks Plan to Defend Against `Sizzler’ Missile”

As of today’s date it appears that the US Navy still does not have a defense against the supersonic anti-ship missile.

The way to develop a defense against such a weapon is to develop a similar weapon and then find a way to defeat  the similar weapon. The US Navy is doing just that. It’s called the MSST (Multi-Stage Supersonic Target). However, the prototype will not be ready until the year 2014 according to the Janes dot com web site.

The MSST (Multi-Stage Supersonic Target is being developed to simulate the threat of next-generation surface to surface anti-ship cruise missiles – such as the Novator 34M-54E Klub, for example (SS-N-27, NATO reporting name ‘Sizzler’) – that cruise at subsonic speeds, initiate a separation, then make a supersonic dash to their intended target.

A final RFP (request for proposals) was issued in November 2007 and, competing with a bid from a Northrop Grumman/Orbital Sciences team, ATK was awarded a four-year, $97 million development contract by US Naval Air Systems Command (Navair) in early September 2008.

Two evaluation and seven development ZGQM-173A prototypes are to be built under this contract, with a first flight expected in the second quarter of 2011. Development completion is due by October 2012, after which a production decision will be taken with a view to service entry in 2014.

So the US government is provoking Iran and Russia. The US Navy has got fleets of ships in the Persian Gulf region where the enemy has got weapons for which there is no defense.

A scenario like the one described above is a sure way to get your navy sunk. You wonder what the US government could be thinking.

The US military says they are ready for a pre-emptive attack against Iran Wednesday, Dec 21 2011

We are one step closer to an all out war. A war that probably will result in World War III.

Those in charge of the US military, General Martin Dempsey and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, say that they are ready to launch a a pre-emptive strike on Iran.

That would be a serious mistake. Iran has a population of 78 million persons. It produces its own warplanes, submarines, and tanks. It also has Russian made submarines.

Iran has a fleet of F-4 and F-14 fighter planes that it got from the US back in the 1970’s decade. Those planes were made with old technology. But they can still shoot missiles at targets.

But the wild card is North Korea. As soon as the US becomes embroiled in a war with Iran North Korea may launch a military strike against South Korea. North Korea has nuclear ICBMs that can reach the North American continent.

The US cannot defeat the entire world. The prophet Obadiah tells us what is going to happen:

US military ‘ready to engage in a conflict with Iran’

America’s most senior military official has indicated that the country is ready to engage in a conflict with Iran, if President Barack Obama were to give the signal.

General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said that the US military had reached a point where they were ready to execute force against Iran if necessary.

Gen Dempsey said he had been quietly leading behind the scenes preparations for an attack against Tehran but said a war with the nation would be a “tragedy”.

“My biggest worry is that it may miscalculate our resolve. Any miscalculation could mean that we are drawn into conflict and that would be a tragedy for the region and the world,” he said. Read report on UK Telegraph.

Panetta: Iran will not be allowed nukes

The U.S. Secretary of Defense said Monday night that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. In an interview, Leon Panetta, said despite the efforts to disrupt the Iranian nuclear program, the Iranians have reached a point where they can assemble a bomb in a year or potentially less. Putin: US seeks to enslave world

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has said that the United States intends to dominate other countries, adding that the world is sick and tired of taking orders from Washington.

“Sometimes it seems to me that America does not need allies, it needs vassals,” Putin said on Thursday during an annual televised call-in show, Reuters reported.

He added that “people are tired of the dictates of one country.”

Putin said that Russia once wanted to be a US ally, but now he could not see any alliance between the two countries.

As an instance of the US imposing its political will on its allies, he cited its invasion of Iraq in 2003, when Washington attacked the Middle Eastern country and then forced its allies to join the war.

“Is that alliance? Is that mutual decision-making? Alliance means discussion, making a joint decision, outlining an agenda concerning common threats and ways to tackle them,” the premier questioned.

He also attacked former US presidential candidate John McCain for his comments on Russia’s December 4 parliamentary election.

The polls were followed by protests, alleging electoral fraud, and calls for a rerun. McCain used the tense atmosphere to accuse Moscow of holding ‘disputed parliamentary polls’ and said the country was awaiting an ‘Arab Spring.’

Putin stated that the results echoed the will of the people.

The returns “reflects the actual line-up of forces in the country, as well as the fact that the ruling force, the United Russia party, has lost certain positions,” he noted.

The premier rejected the opposition’s calls for a rerun and accused those, who had organized the massive protest rallies, of working to weaken Russia on behalf of certain Western states.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he accused Washington of illegally using its surveillance drones to track down the deposed Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and have him killed by the Libyan opposition without subjecting him to any investigation or trial.

Defense spending bill gives government the right to arrest and detain accused persons indefinitely Thursday, Dec 15 2011

Both the House and the Senate have passed bills that does away with an American’s right to a fair trial. President Obama has said that he will sign the bill.

If a US citizen is accused of being a terrorist the government has given itself the right to arrest and seize that person; and put him in prison for an indefinite period of time.

The Red Bolshevik communists had such laws. The result was tens of millions of people were sent off to the gulags in Siberia. Many of them died there. It was called the purges.

What is happening is the result of God’s people turning their backs on His laws. We were warned way back in the books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy what would happen if we deserted God’s laws.

Those curses are found at Leviticus 26:14-46 and Deuteronomy 28:15-68

White House says no veto of defense bill

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House on Wednesday abandoned its threat that President Barack Obama would veto a defense bill over provisions on how to handle suspected terrorists as Congress raced to finish the legislation.

Press secretary Jay Carney said last-minute changes that Obama and his national security team sought produced legislation that “does not challenge the president’s ability to collect intelligence, incapacitate dangerous terrorists and protect the American people.”

The legislation also would deny suspected terrorists, even U.S. citizens seized within the nation’s borders, the right to trial and subject them to indefinite detention.
